So I was curious who this “L…”-person that David mentioned could be, so I reread the whole chapter and they mentioned a Lucy that is mysteriously absent from her job…
I’m guessing that David lied about Christie to protect Lucy and it’s also implied that those two have an affair….I think?
I don’t know if that is necessarily correct, but that’s some amazing subtle storytelling either way. The 4th chapter is definitely my favourite one so far, I love it!
These recent few pages are so painful, my misanthropy skyrockets whenever I think of them, but that’s how most people are, you risk your life to help them or their loved ones, and they crucify you for lack of a better scapegoat. Very powerful storytelling, very striking. Great job! Also the surreal colors add to it very much, at first I was thinking it’s Windigo kicking in, that she is hallucinating their verbal aggression because of the virus she must have contracted from the cat, but now I realize it’s all really happening, and that’s all the sadder. Also if this is Lamia, as I think it is, then the fact a cat was her downfall is all the more ironic. Very good storytelling! Cheers!
Think on the fifth panel it should be “What are you doin’ out ‘ere, fils de pute?” (son of a whore) or “What are you doin’ out ‘ere, espèce de batard?” (you bastard).
“Fils de chien” is a literal translation of “son of a bitch” but nobody I know that speaks french would say that.
Fils de chien is a Cajun French phrase, though you’re right traditional French doesn’t borrow directly from English phrases. My guess is the mix of English and French speakers must’ve given the phrase reason to cross over.
That was my second guess, considering how thorough your research was during the world-building phase on your DA account was I suppose that I should have known better than cast doubt on it haha.
whens the next page coming?
You’ll be getting a new spread every two weeks. Next update is March 4th.
Jesus. He wasn’t a zombie lady, just annoying.
That may be, but he was threatening the only ones she gave a damn about – the birds.
True. Looks like she’s regretting it now though.
What I like about this situation is that it takes some time for everything to deteriorate. People are more resilient and resourceful than we’d think.
I’m a firm believer that people are a lot less likely to roll over and just accept doom than movies have led us to believe. I’m not that cynical.
Love the comic so far. Keep up the good work.
Thank you! That means a lot!
Ok, so does this mean the snake is a windigo?

Loving the new look, Christie
Gee, I didn’t expect the time jump at all, that’s really jarring. I don’t think I’m prepared for what’s to come, help ;_;
I am loving this comic so far. Loving the whole world it’s set in.
